Charitable giving: We strongly urge our guests to consider giving on our behalf to people in need. We would especially like to support the following causes:
The American Refugee Committee (ARC) in Rwanda feeds and houses victims of the civil war in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. Steve's mom has been working with the refugees to overcome their hardships. During his visit to Rwanda in 2006, Steve found the refugees and ARC workers to be kind and generous friends. To support them on our behalf, please donate at www.archq.com in honor of Steve and Lina.
Over the past five years, Lina's family has worked closely with the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Lithuania, who have taken in a group of 15 orphans under their care in the village of Rumbonys, Lithuania. The youngsters range from ages 7 to 26 and live with the sisters on their farm during the summer and on weekends during the school year. They Sisters provide them with material and emotional support: shoes, food and clothing as much as structure, warmth and love. The children are constantly growing and so are in frequent need of new shoes, clothes and school supplies. The Sisters are also in the process of renovating their living quarters to introduce more modern kitchen and bathroom facilities to their home environment. To make a donation to the children of Rumbonys on behalf of Steve and Lina, please use the following Google Checkout button to charge your credit card (you will have to create a free Google account if you don't already have one), and Steve and Lina will pass along your donation to the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception at the end of September 2008.
Gift ideas: We would love the opportunity to enjoy new experiences: restaurants, shows, or classes.
Registries: Still stuck on what to get? To help you along, we have registered at a few retailers for items that we hope will give us a good start on our new life together.
